Speculate as to why the success rate of treatment is much higher for testicular and prostate cancers than for ovarian cancer
What will be an ideal response?
Testicular cancer affects men in their young-adult to middle-aged years. If testicular cancer is detected early, the chance of survival is nearly 100%, but self-examination and detection are essential. For prostate cancer, like testicular cancer, the key to survival is early detection. If the cancer is still contained within the prostate when detected, the chances for survival for 5 years are 95%. Unfortunately, there is no self-exam or routine testing that is used for ovarian cancer. This makes early detection difficult.

The outside of a neuron is positively charged at resting potential. Why do K+ ions leave the cell when K+ channels open during an action potential?
A. Negatively charged proteins leave the cell at the onset of the action potential. B. The diffusion gradient is the only factor that affects ion movement. C. K+ ions are actively pumped out by the sodium-potassium pump acting in reverse. D. Voltage-gated K+ channels open when membrane potential reaches +50 mV during the depolarization phase. The diffusion gradient and electrical force cooperate to drive K+ ions out of the cell.
