How does each of the following political points of view-radical left, liberal, and conservative-understand global inequality and poverty in the world? What solutions are favored by each point of view?

What will be an ideal response?

- Radical-left view: The world's wealth is concentrated in a handful of very rich nations. Replace the capitalist world economy with a system that values people above profits, eliminate multinational corporations, use land to grow food for local consumption, and cancel foreign debt.
- Liberal view: Most people in rich nations have more than they need, but 1 billion people around the world contend with a poor diet, inadequate housing, and little education. The rich of the world must share their wealth in the form of foreign aid that will improve health, schooling, and housing; oppose sweatshops; and support land reform.
- Conservative view: Although more than 6.5 billion people in the world live far better than our ancestors several centuries ago, 1 billion of the world's people remain poor. Allow the productive power of the market to raise the living standards of poor nations today as it has done in the past; encourage capital investment and technology transfers to poor nations.
