Like criminal offending, criminal victimization is not randomly distributed among the populace. Patterns of victimization show differences between ethnicity, income, gender, time, and age. Furthermore, for the last 30 years, victimization data show a high degree of consistency with respect to where and when victimization occurs and who is victimized.
