Why do supporters of the laissez-faire approach oppose big governments?

What will be an ideal response?

According to laissez-faire advocates, big government is inherently detrimental to society because it funnels resources away from the private sector where they could be put to better use. Because the government is not constrained by competition and demands to make a profit, it can "afford" to be highly wasteful.
