What will be an ideal response?

Answer: A book is considered high quality when it has literary merit and appeals to the reader. The accepted criteria for examining literary features include:
1. The protagonist is usually the age of the targeted audience.
2. The theme appropriately reflects the emotions and experiences of students today.
3. The language is clear and specific.
4. The literary elements consist of a believable plot and characters, engaging writing style, and a theme that unites in a satisfying whole.
5. The book doesn't blatantly teach or moralize and tells about human experiences truthfully.
6. The book broadens understanding and perspective of the world.
7. Books for younger students usually include engaging pictures, feature fast-paced action presented in a straightforward manner, take place in a single setting, and have satisfying endings.
8. Books for older students may not include pictures, but rely on descriptions to foster visualization and dialog to provide insight into characters.
9. Books for older students may not always have happy endings, but the ideas are important and meaningful.
It is important to note the quality of a book as deemed by an adult may or may not translate into enjoyment by a student.
