Explain the role of electricity and the power grid on Superstorm Sandy.

What will be an ideal response?

The electrical grid in the entire state was affected and many were out of power for days. Downed wires and utility poles were sources of danger. Utility crews worked for days after the storm. The lack of power was linked to 18 of the 38 deaths. Gas stations could not operate without electricity. Price gauging became a problem.
