What will be an ideal response?
Responses don't have to focus on interpersonal aspects of college. Students may feel uncomfortable studying topics relating to race and gender. They may feel uncomfortable learning about a completely new topic, or reading a text filled with unfamiliar vocabulary. Students may feel uncomfortable with the amount of reading required.
As students may be reluctant to share their discomfort in class, consider asking students to write instead, perhaps in a journal. You may decide to share these responses anonymously with the class afterward.
