Explain why most homeowners prefer a grid-connected system to a stand alone system.

What will be an ideal response?

Most homeowners prefer a grid-connected system to a stand-alone system because the grid system allows the solar panels to generate some or all of the home’s electricity when sunlight is adequate to do so, but also permits electricity to be fed to the home from the municipal electrical grid whenever solar power alone is not sufficient to meet current needs. Any excess electricity produced by the solar system is fed back into the grid.
