Compare and contrast the different types of receptors found in the body
What will be an ideal response?
There are five major types of receptors found in the human body. Mechanoreceptors respond to tactile stimuli and are also sensitive to changes in blood pressure and body position. Chemoreceptors react to chemical stimulation, such as taste and smell. Thermoreceptors are sensitive to fluctuation in temperature, whereas photoreceptors detect changes in light intensity. Pain receptors are sensitive to physical or chemical stimuli produced by damaged tissues. These receptors are associated with both chemoreceptors and mechanoreceptors.
