Explain why adjustments need to be made when creating a cross-tabulation table for nominal or ordinal variables.

What will be an ideal response?

When working with tables that contain nominal or ordinal variables, we need to find new ways to express the amount of confidence in our statistics. Confidence intervals are applicable to percentages and means, but don’t work when it comes to assessing the overall trends found in a table. Therefore, we need to find a way to express confidence in our results when working with frequency tables and cross-tabulation tables. The chi-square test of statistical significance is a common and useful tool for this.
