What is a layer mask, and what is the basic concept behind it?
What will be an ideal response?
A layer mask allows you to define which areas of artwork on a single layer are visible, not visible, or partly visible. The basic concept of a layer mask is very simple: White areas of the layer mask represent art on the layer that is 100% visible. Black areas of the layer mask represent art on the layer that is 100% masked and therefore invisible. Gray areas of the layer mask represent art on the layer that is semitransparent.
