How has electronically stored information changed the discovery process? What aspects of ESI make discovery easier? What issues can make it more of a challenge?

What will be an ideal response?

Technology has not changed some of the methods of discovery such as interrogatories, requests for productionor depositions. What has changed is the type information requested and its location. Most documents are now created electronically rather than on paper and stored on a storage device rather than as paper copies in a file. The purposes of discovery remain unchanged. Discovery is used to evaluate the case, prepare for trial, facilitate settlement, and preserve evidence.
