What will be an ideal response?
A good answer will include - Two variables, A and B, must be correlated or have a relationship. The "cause", A, must precede the "effect", B. There must be no other variable(s) that might have influenced the relationship between A and B. The researcher must not have influenced the results in some way, such as how s/he coded or interpreted the results. Examples will vary.
