Explain why a split braking system is needed and explain the two types of systems in use.

What will be an ideal response?

The split system was designed to prevent a total system failure in the event of a leak anywhere in the system. There are two types of split systems: diagonal and front/rear. The diagonal has one system feeding a front-wheel brake and the rear, opposing-side wheel brake, that is, left front and right rear. The second diagonal split is to the other wheel brakes. The front/rear split allows braking action on either the front or rear brakes.
