Describe how morphine and cocaine affect the nervous system

What will be an ideal response?

Morphine
After several weeks of regularly using opiates, a person's brain produces less of its own endorphins and relies more on the outside supply of opiates. As a result, a person becomes addicted to taking opiates and must administer one or more doses daily to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Cocaine
The primary effect of cocaine is to block reuptake of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which means that dopamine stays around longer to excite neighboring neurons. Cocaine also excites dopamine receptors to produce euphoria and glutamate receptors to produce a craving for more of the drug.
