Explain how communication barriers can affect the role of professionalism in the medical office
What will be an ideal response?
The professional medical assistant will need to be able to recognize a communication barrier and effectively deal with the situation. Examples of common communication barriers often found in the medical office include language barriers with patients who do not speak English as their primary language; special needs barriers with patients who have visual, hearing, or learning impairments; and emotional barriers patients with patients who are angry, anxious, or sad. The medical assistant will need to effectively formulate a plan, develop a strategy, and often through trial and error and the assistance of other staff members, create an effective solution.
