What is PERT? What is its disadvantage?

What will be an ideal response?

The Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) is an analytical method that allows us to determine probabilities of project completion times in project management models by assuming that the expected activity times define the critical path and invoking the central limit theorem to make an assumption of normality of the distribution of project completion time. However, this assumption may not always be valid. Simulation can provide a more realistic characterization of the project completion time and the associated risks.
