Discuss the difference between therapeutic detention facilities and preventive detention facilities
What will be an ideal response?
The answer should contain the following points:
Preventative detention facilities hold offenders in secure locations for three reasons. First, because the offender may pose a threat to others; second, because the offender may be a flight risk; and third because officials fear they will not show up to court when required to do so. A preventative detention facility handles all of the juvenile's basic needs like education and health problems, but its main job is to hold the offender until the courts decide where they should go next. A therapeutic detention facility does all the same things as a preventive facility, but it goes a step farther. It adds supportive and therapeutic care like counseling.
