Debate pros and cons of having one employee do all of the billing and perform his or her own audits as well. The jobs include coding, billing, payment posting, and auditing.
What will be an ideal response?
Other answers will be valid, but these are examples.
When auditing, doing self audits has both pros and cons, but they must be done to ensure that the office bills everything accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
PROS: Free to perform, can catch errors immediately, employees know the provider guidelines and can identify things easily.
CONS: When the same person always does the audit, something may be missed because the person may not see it or might not be knowledgeable about the information. Using outside auditors can be preferable because there is another set of eyes. Outside auditors have more experience with the regulations and have been educated to identify mistakes. They are sometimes more willing to tell the providers or the staff when errors are being made.
