Give two explanations of why a cannonball will have a greater velocity from a long-barreled cannon than a shorter cannon

What will be an ideal response?

In terms of the impulse-momentum relationship, a longer barrel means that the time during which the exploding powder pushes on the cannonball is longer. This creates more impulse, which in turn provides a greater gain in momentum and speed. In terms of the work-energy relationship, a longer barrel gives a longer distance for the force to act, which equals a greater gain in kinetic energy and speed.

A parcel of air with an initial temperature of 55°F begins to rise in Location A. The LCL of the parcel is 2000 feet. With a red (or labeled) line, carefully draw the temperature decrease of this parcel of air as it rises to 8000 feet. Be sure to consider the LCL, and the DAR and SAR.

(a) Describe the stability pattern of this parcel of air.
(b) What is the general name for the change observed in the vertical temperature profile between 2000 and 3000 feet?
(c) Does the parcel of rising air become highly stable or highly unstable between 2000 and 3000 feet? Why?

Microlending has

A) been limited to Bangladesh and two other countries because it requires specific conditions. B) struggled because far too many poor people are unable to pay off their loans while under impoverished conditions. C) been successful in large part due to considerable investments by the United Nations to cover the losses of more than 40% of the unpaid loans. D) produced million of loans, primarily to women, in more than 40 countries with a 97% pay-back rate.
