What should BoB have done to avoid this situation?
What will be an ideal response?
BoB should develop a consistent training program. Instead of cutting corners, the same training that was given to the salespeople and the sales support center staff should have been given to the new hires under a newly created help desk. The help desk should certify system users. No one should be allowed to use the system until they are certified. The help desk also can assist users once they are certified. It is inappropriate to rely on a user manual as the only form of training. Even with the help desk in place, the user manual needs to be copy edited by a person not associated with the organization. Not only should the copy editor reduce the reading level; he or she also should remove computer jargon. The user manual then needs to be tested using individuals who have no knowledge of the system.
