Robbery is a personal crime involving a face-to-face confrontation between the victim and a perpetrator. Weapons may be used in robberies or strong-arm robbery may occur through intimidation. Purse snatching and pickpocketing are not classified as robbery by the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) program but are included under the category of larceny-theft.
