You are the captain of a miniature submarine that is being sent on a voyage through the body. Your assignment is to plot the course taken by molecules of oxygen from the atmosphere to the heart and the reverse course taken by molecules of carbon dioxide from the heart to the atmosphere. Diagram and explain how you would organize the course. (I do not understand this question at all so even a guess at this would help me out lol)
What will be an ideal response?
Answer:
The way the molecule travel from the atmosphere to the heart is first it will go through the nose which is an airway of the body.
- the nose has nose hairs which filters the oxygen and make it warm.
- then it will go down the trachea which laid down to the lungs.
- lungs are located in the thoracic cavity.
- oxygen travels through the trachea and bronchi and the alveoli and exchange with the blood and the pulmonary capillary.
- from the lungs the oxygen goes to the the left atrium then left ventricle through the aorta it goes to the body tissue.
- in tissue there is exchange of oxygen with carbon dioxide which in turn carried by veins to the the right atrium then it will go to right ventricle to the lungs.
