What will be an ideal response?
It is tempting to accept this argument, but one has to believe that the intelligent reasoning
and the intuitive appeal behind, let us say, best-fit over first-fit, really support better
performance on the part of the best-fit strategy. Actually, this problem is intended to generate
some controversy in the class and provides a good point for the instructor to challenge
the class to answer the question. This type of problem is difficult, if not impossible, to model
analytically, so the instructor may suggest a simulation homework assignment.
