Define the thermohaline circulation. What are the processes that drive the circulation of the deep oceans?
What will be an ideal response?
Because deep-ocean circulation depends on temperature and salinity, this circulation is referred to as thermohaline circulation (thermo is Greek for "heat," and haline comes from the Greek hals, for "salt"). In the deep oceans, horizontal changes in density are small, whereas vertical changes can be larger. But the densest water is at the bottom, so the structure is very stable. Consequently, the movement of water through the deep ocean is relatively slow.

Which mineral property is the least useful for identifying minerals and why?
Color is the least useful property for identification because it is the most obvious property. Streak is the least useful property for identification because the same mineral type can be found with several different colors of streak caused by impurities in the mineral. Color is the least useful property for identification because the same mineral type can be found in several different colors as a result of impurities in the mineral. Streak is the least useful property for identification because it does not work for minerals with metallic lusters. Density is the least useful property for identification because different specimens of the same type of mineral can vary in size.
