Explain the difference between free-wheeling and interference engines.

What will be an ideal response?

Free-wheeling engines are designed with enough clearance between the valves and the pistons so that there will never be contact between the two in the event of a broken timing belt or chain. Interference engines will allow contact between the valves and pistons if the timing between the two is disrupted due to a component failure such as a broken timing belt or chain.
