Look for the following when inspecting a driveshaft:
1. Check for undercoating, missing balance weights, or obvious physical damage.
2. Move the driveshaft up and down while watching for looseness in the U-joints.
3. Look for rust at the seals on the U-joint cups.
4. Check for excess movement while you move the slip yoke up and down against the extension housing bushing.
5. Pry on the transmission cross-member mount to see that it is in good condition.
6. Verify that there is no indentation in the driveshaft tubing. An imperfection will weaken it, which can cause it to kink easily under load.
