ANS: Globalization is the increase of global connectivity, integration, and interdependence in economic, cultural, social, and technological spheres. The knowledge economy is an economic system in which the use and exchange of knowledge plays a primary role. Knowledge is an economic asset as well as a product of the economy. Attributes include: curiosity and passion for learning; imagination and creativity; rich sense of current events, with preparedness for change. The discussion of learning characteristics discussion will include elements from the 21st century skills and the "essential cognitive backpack" (see other questions). Implications: 1) teacher must demonstrate a love and passion for learning; 2) teacher must help students develop the necessary learning characteristics.
