Personal values – autonomy, independence, personal responsibility, interdependence, coping ability, flexibility, self-esteem, self-expression, acceptance of conflict and ambiguity, demonstration of self-control, and construction of purpose and meaning in life.

Interpersonal values – intimacy, friendship, cooperation, benevolence, the right to disagree, receipt of support and interpersonal recognition, and devaluation of vertical or strictly hierarchical interpersonal arrangements.

Social values – de-emphasis on social power, social influence, control, or authority over others, and on dominance and a devaluation of social conformity, such as doing what is accepted and proper, and being a conformist.

Environmental or contextual values – harmony or unity in the relationship between person and nature, and devaluation of alternatives such as control over or subjugation in nature.
