What was Marsilio Ficino's role in the Medici dynasty?

Ficino was a scholar priest supported by Cosimo d' Medici. Cosimo created a Platonic Academy in Florence and installed Ficino as its head. Ficino translated Plato from Greek to Latin and believed it was his duty to harmonize Christian and pagan traditions. Neoplatonism was the modern usage of Platonic thought.
