Copyright authors often transfer rights in copyrighted works at a time when they do not fully understand the value of their works. The new owner may then collect astounding amounts of money and yet the original creator may not share in any of that economic gain. Thus, the Copyright Act provides that transfers of certain copyright rights can be terminated or revoked so that the original author can recapture his or her copyright rights in the works and exploit them.?
