Briefly describe how the main founders of sociology each viewed religion.

What will be an ideal response?

All viewed religion as extremely important. For Durkheim, all religions contain truth, the truth of society’s importance over and above. For Marx religion is “the sentiment of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions.” Marx meant that humans have projected their highest ideals and most humane values in the religious sphere of life.
