Why would an attorney want to impeach a witness that he or she called?
What will be an ideal response?
Usually an attorney only calls a witness if he or she believes that the witness will help his or her side. Occasionally, a witness cannot be depended on to give the testimony anticipated, does not come forth with the information expected or in the form expected, or changes his or her story. Once this occurs, the attorney will want to impeach the witness so that the jurors will not be persuaded by the witness's testimony.
