Explain the purpose of the HCAHPS survey

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) uses a 27-question survey to collect data about the patient's perception of his or her hospital experience. The survey is given to a random sampling of adult patients with a variety of medical conditions between two days and six weeks after they've been discharged from the hospital. Questions solicit feedback regarding communication with the nurses and doctors, pain management, cleanliness, noise levels, details about medications, and so on. Patients are also asked to rate the hospital overall and whether or not they would recommend the hospital to other patients.
