Theorists have argued that the future would be much more homogenous than the past and that the trajectory of future development would be toward convergence rather than divergence. Has this been the case with the development of globalization? Illustrate your answer with empirical cases.

What will be an ideal response?

A satisfactory answer would realize that globalization is an uneven process not one that is universal. It would appreciate that the meaning of globalization is not universal or necessarily shared. A better answer would relate this understanding to contemporary events such as the spread of consumer society, 9/11, the question of human rights, and realize how globalization makes these all problematically negotiable, and that this is the environment within which global business will be done. An outstanding answer will relate the winners and losers to the processes of globalization.
