Discuss three group goals that will help women deal with trauma, stress, depression, and anxiety and discuss at least three methods or interventions by which these goals can be met

What will be an ideal response?

Goals for dealing with trauma, stress, depression, and anxiety revolve around symptom prevention, management, and improvement. The following goals can be met by providing psychoeducation and supportive learning experiences within the context of a group.
Self-monitoring: Clients can learn to self-monitor signs and symptoms of trauma, stress, depression, and anxiety and can learn and reinforce new ways of behaving
Decreasing negative thinking: Critical to the process is to replace catastrophic and nonproductive thinking and emotions with positive and realistic thoughts.
Self-care: Clients learn and practice relaxation techniques, anxiety-reduction practices, how to recognize oppressive environments, and how to manage stress.
Support: Through the group process, these women get a chance to be heard in a way that might not have occurred in their lives and within their social environments promoting trust.
Emotional catharsis: In the group, clients have the opportunity to express deep and complex emotions in a safe environment.
Normalization: Hearing the stories of trauma, stress, depression, and anxiety from others has a normalizing and leveling effect. Group members begin to see that they are not alone and that many others are dealing with similar issues.
Communication: The group offers an opportunity for clients to practice positive and assertive communication, helping clients to get their needs met and goals achieved.
