What are the disadvantages of an ammeter?
What will be an ideal response?
One disadvantage to the ammeter is that its wires carry high amounts of current. If a wire shorts to ground, this can cause a fire under the instrument panel. Another disadvantage to the ammeter is that it is expensive because it must be of sufficient size to carry current for the entire charging load. Cars built in the sixties often had ammeters, but the charging system output on those cars was much lower than the high charging system output found on today's vehicles.
