The National Drug Court Institute's National Research Advisory Committee has suggested that drug courts be evaluated based on three primary performance measures: (1) Retention in the drug court treatment program--those who complete the program or are still enrolled in the program divided by those who entered the program during a particular time period; (2) sobriety-negative drug tests as a percentage of all tests given to drug court participants; and (3) recidivism rate of new arrests for drug court participants, both during program participation and after program completion.
