Briefly explain the difference between formative and summative assessment
What will be an ideal response?
Formative assessment is given after a lesson is taught to determine whether students will need more instruction in order to master the information or to determine which students are ready to move forward. Summative assessment is given to determine the level of mastery and usually is converted into a grade. It is given at the conclusion of a unit of study or school year.
