What are the parts of the optical encoder and how does it work?
What will be an ideal response?
Optical encoders consist of a disk that has either holes for light to pass thru or
special reflectors to return light, an emitter, a receiver, and some solid state
devices for signal transmission and such. The principle of operation is simple, the
transmitter sends out light and the light either passes thru the holes or reflects
back to the receiver, triggering the electronics of the encoder to send a signal back
to the controller.
