Define will according to Rank’s will psychology. Using Rank’s theory, explain how will can be used.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: What Rank has in mind is a conscious, volitional and creative force that every human being has. What each person does with his/her will is highly variable of course, but he believes there is potential in everyone to use this important capacity for positive growth and change (Menaker, 1982). In order to really engage life intentionally and use one’s creative will, one must, in a sense, become psychologically “reborn.” Rank doesn’t have anything religious in mind with the idea of psychological rebirth; he means that all people (hopefully) become aware at some point of their own internal ability to decide who they are and what they will do with their life.
