Read the short scenario in question 2 and answer the following question: how would the woman try to resolve the ethical dilemma regarding the abortion?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Isabelle will now consider her own needs, perhaps to avoid becoming severely disabled and unable to care for her first child. She will also consider, in her truth seeking and consequence-finding, to consider giving birth to her second child in spite of her own health risks. She would ask: what impact would having that child have on her first child, her husband, herself, especially if she can no longer care for any of them because she is permanently and severely disabled? Would it be right to ‘sacrifice’ three people’s well-being for her own moral belief (as a Catholic) that abortion is wrong? Thus, she would consider the real-world consequences of her actions on the actual people in her particular family and social context.
