The text argues that women’s employment rates are often tied to economic development. Why?

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. Developed Global North countries have more women employed in the formal sector
while Global South countries have a larger number of women working in the informal sector. In the
Global South, women’s work is often not counted as they work as own-account or contributing family
workers. In the Global South, especially, women’s work is considered vulnerable employment. As
societies advance, more formal jobs become available and educational opportunities for women
increase.
