Why is it useful to know the common referral patterns for common trigger points?

What will be an ideal response?

A complete response should include these concepts:
• When applying trigger point pressure release, the amount of pressure and timing of pressure will be guided by the discomfort that arises in the local area or a referral zone.

• Referred pain or other unusual sensations can be used to isolate the location of trigger points. As you apply pressure along the taut bands of tissue, you will look for areas that cause a referred pain pattern. These will be important areas to focus treatment on.

• The common referral zones are likely to have active satellite trigger points of their own.
