Describe the operations of a flexible manufacturing system (FMS).

What will be an ideal response?

A flexible manufacturing system (FMS) combines electronic machines and computer-integrated manufacturing in a single production system. A factory with an FMS does not have to be retooled for each new product; instead, the FMS factory can be rearranged by reprogramming electronic machines to accommodate new products. Smaller batches of product can also be produced with less production cost than a traditional factory.
