Compare and contrast personal journals and learning journals, and describe how each can be used in the classroom
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Personal journals focus on experiences and events in students' lives, while learning journals are places where students can respond to what they are learning in school. Entries that students put in learning journals can identify, analyze, or question what they learn in school. For instance, they can summarize what they have been learning in social studies or math. Learning journals allow students to track their own understanding about a particular subject by preserving a record of that learning. Writing in learning journals helps students assimilate what they have learned and accommodates the new learning that happens as they learn more about a subject. Some examples of learning journals include learning logs, double-entry journals, and dialogue journals.
