Using SBAR, what information would you provide to the neurosurgeon when you call?

What will be an ideal response?

Following SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), you would first identify
yourself, then explain that K.B. is complaining of a headache. For background, state that K.B.
experienced a left subdural hematoma; then give current VS, urine output with specific gravity, and
details of his neurologic examination findings, including assessment items that are changing and the
time period of those changes. The assessment of the situation is that K.B. is experiencing diabetes
insipidus. You would recommend starting vasopressin (Pitressin) and increasing the IV fluid rate.
