What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary.
1. Parallel Play – Teacher is near the child but does not participate in the child’s play. Can model or provide ideas.
2. Co-Play – The teacher becomes the player with the child but follows his or her lead. She exits the play when no longer needed.
3. Play Tutor – The teacher assumes the leadership role in the play. He or she guides, scaffolds, and communicates to the child, which leads to higher level play.
4. Spokesperson for Reality – In this play the teacher adds statements that extend or stop the play.
