What causes vertigo? What causes motion sickness?

What will be an ideal response?

A stroke, an inner ear infection, or loose particles in the semicircular canals cause vertigo, which is a sensation that the world is moving or spinning around.

Mismatched signals cause motion sickness. When the body's balancing system detects motion while the eyes see no motion, the mismatched signals can cause nausea.
