The government may use a search warrant to search newsrooms for (a) certain types of national security information, (b) child pornography, (c) evidence that a journalist has committed a crime, or (d) documentary materials that must be immediately seized to prevent death or serious bodily injury. (e) Documentary materials also may be seized if there is reason to believe that they would be destroyed in the time it took government officers to seek a subpoena. (f) Those materials also can be seized if a court has ordered disclosure, but the news organization has refused to comply with the disclosure order and all other remedies have been exhausted.
